LIVE-OUT BUTLER/HOUSE ASSISTANT REQUIRED IN LONDON

A brilliant opportunity has become available for a Butler/House Assistant to support a high-net-worth family in their Central London residence. Working as part of a team in this informally staffed household, you will take responsibility for the food and beverage service, and liaise with the Chef to ensure that breakfast, lunch and dinner services run smoothly.

Duties will include the service of all meals and snacks throughout the day, laying and clearing tables, and managing/updating household inventories. The Chef manages the bulk of the food shopping, but you will be responsible for ordering the family’s preferred snacks and beverages, as well as toiletries, amenities and medicines and ensuring that sufficient stock levels are always maintained.

Well-presented, friendly and intuitive, you will be able to deliver an unobtrusive and professional front of house service and also undertake some valet duties such as packing/unpacking for travel, toiletry management and arranging dry cleaning. The family are looking to employ a team player with a can-do attitude and a willingness to muck in where required to facilitate the smooth running of the home.

Working 40 hours per week in a rotating shift pattern (7am-3pm or 2pm-10pm), the general working week will be Monday to Friday, but you will be required to work every third weekend, with two days off in lieu the following week. A driving license is not required for this role, and though no childcare will be required, you must be child friendly.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Range of butler duties, including informal service, laying and clearing tables, food & beverage service throughout the day
• Ordering snacks and drinks in line with the family’s preferences
• Ordering and managing toiletries/amenities and medicines for the family
• Inventory management and stock rotation
• Dealing with deliveries and returns
• Assisting the Chef in the kitchen as required
• Packing and unpacking suitcases
• Ad-hoc assistance to other team members – general tidying, organisation etc.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior Butler/Family Assistant experience in a private residence with high standards, or high-end hospitality experience
• Brilliant interpersonal skills and the ability to read a room
• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent standard of verbal and written English & the right to live and work in the UK
• Polished and well-presented, boundaried and respectful
• Excellent attention to detail and a team player with a can-do attitude
• London-based
• Excellent checkable references
