EA / COMMUNITY ADMIN – SOCIAL JUSTICE GROUP

This is an amazing opportunity for a driven and ambitious administrator to join social justice campaigning group which is an activist youth movement of leaders fighting for justice and equality. They serve as the political home for grassroots youth organising and the catalyst for collective action. They are young, dynamic, ambitious and unapologetic, and are looking for someone who is eager to undertake a varied and dynamic new challenge and is passionate about building the world as it should be. If you’re a creative campaigner who’s fired up by the idea of building a grassroots movement for social justice in order to change the balance of power, this could be the perfect role for you.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment, be highly motivated, with a high standard for yourself and others. You will be detail-orientated, ambitious, and disciplined, with experience working in a small organisation. Based in trendy Brixton offices, and joining a close-knit driven team, this role offers a great deal of flexibility in terms of hours and the ability to work remotely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the CEO
• Provide key administrative support to the CEO
• Manage the CEO’s calendar ensuring a balanced schedule across the week, building an instinct around which requests to prioritise or forward to other team members, account for travel time
• Coordinate team meetings and take minutes for the team
• Manage expenses, travel and other general administrative tasks
• Research potential business development opportunities, prepare memos, and other summary documents
• Work towards attending meetings on the CEO’s behalf and reporting back with key takeaways
• Identifying ways to improve current systems and processes
Be the first port of call for community
• Manage our community inbox and share opportunities with staff and Alumni
• Manage the general inbox and forward relevant emails to staff members, reply to partners and be the face of our movement for those contacting us for the first time
• Identify potential opportunities for alumni/staff and share in the Slack channel by reviewing events and workshops shared by partners and those advertised in regular newsletters
• Coordinate monthly team socials
Support board meetings
• Provide key administrative support to the Board, coordinate Board meetings and take minutes
• Work towards attending meetings on the CEO’s behalf and reporting back with key takeaways
• Help communicate and coordinate events, training and away days

• You’ve got a deep understanding of, or are interested in actively learning issues of social justice. From racism to the housing crisis to climate justice, you’ll be interested of how systemic injustice operates in our society.
• You’ll be confident and competent in managing a “to-do” list of competing priorities and communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role requires someone with initiative who can balance multiple priorities and sensitivities.
• You have strong attention to detail whether you’re working on a word document, writing emails or managing multiple invites.
• You’re a sensitive and thoughtful relationship-builder - you a great listener, and remember people’s names, faces, and stories.
• You’re enterprising and ready to graft. You’ll be used to achieving a lot with a little. You’re not afraid of working hard in pursuit of a big vision. You’re excited to be working in a start-up environment, using initiative to build exceptional things from scratch with limited resources.
• You’re comfortable with tension and have experience managing difficult conversations to successful resolutions.
• You pursue growth and display humility - you value feedback and being outside your comfort zone and are always willing to reflect, learn, grow and stretch yourself.
• You enjoy learning new technologies and software - just because you don’t know a tool coming in, doesn’t mean you wouldn’t feel confident picking up new technology in a few weeks.
