We are recruiting for an experienced and talented live-in Caretaker/Maintenance Manager to manage our client’s large property on their West Sussex estate. The property has recently had a significant overhaul and refurbishment and now requires a live-in Caretaker to ensure the continued smooth running of the property and the grounds. Supported by a full-time gardener and full-time housekeeper, as well as additional part-time staff, you will manage the team and be the go-to for the principals for anything to do with the property and estate.

 

With a very hands-on approach, you will ensure the property and the grounds (approx. 50 acres) are maintained to a very high standard and that all maintenance, and maintenance contracts are managed efficiently. Practical maintenance skills are essential for this role, as well as flexibility, professionalism, a can-do positive attitude and a friendly demeanour. Knowledge of swimming pool maintenance would be highly desirable for this role also.

 

Accommodation will be a recently refurbished 3-bedroom shared cottage on the grounds, you will have the property to yourself when the principals are not in residence (roughly 7-8 months of the year), however, will then share it with their additional staff when they are in residence.

 

Duties to include but not limited to:

·       General maintenance and upkeep of the property

·       Overseeing all household and estate staff

·       Managing external contractors

·       Manage household utilities and petty cash

·       Deal quickly and responsibly with any issues that arise

·       Be the main point of contact for the property and estate

·       General household administration and filing

 

Essential criteria:

·       Practical handyman skills such as: DIY, general maintenance skills.

·       Ability to undertake a live-in role in West Sussex

·       Positive can-do attitude

·       A full UK driving licence

·       Collaborative and hardworking

·       Autonomous and able to use own initiative

·       Excellent checkable references
