BRILLIANT HOUSEKEEPER/COOK REQUIRED IN KENSINGTON
We are working with our clients to find a brilliant full-time Housekeeper/Cook to assist a family of 5 in their 5-bedroom home in Kensington. The family are based in London but often visit their country home in Somerset so are looking for a dedicated and motivated candidate to join their staff.
Daily duties include general housekeeping to a high standard, laundry (including hand washing of delicate items), ironing, wardrobe management and cleaning delicate surfaces such as marble, brass, and fine furniture. Candidates should have experience adhering to household budgets, managing accounts and have brilliant communication skills in order to work well with the family’s PA and other staff members.
You will also be responsible for cooking the family delicious, family friendly dinners on a daily basis. Other kitchen duties will include keeping stock of all fresh and pantry items, keeping the fridge clean and organised, weekly online grocery shopping as well as ensuring all expired items are thrown away.
Other duties include flower arranging, watering plants, ordering logs/coal/kindling for the fireplaces, rubbish management, overseeing contractors and ad-hoc duties such as dropping off dry cleaning, taking in deliveries and answering the door/phone.
The ideal candidate will be personable, pro-active and have a can-do attitude who is willing to muck-in where needed. You may be asked to do occasional child-minding or school pick-ups for the 11-year-old and lend support to the family when they are entertaining. There are also four dogs on the property that you will be responsible for feeding, grooming, and walking as well as a fish tank that requires cleaning, so it is imperative that candidates are both child and pet friendly.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm (plus pre-arranged childminding on some evenings). This position is open to live-out candidates only, however when the family go away you may be required to house/pet sit.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
• Management of all household laundry, including clothing, fine fabrics, linens etc.
• Ironing, pressing, folding and appropriately hanging/storing all items
• Daily cleaning of the property including brass and delicate furniture
• Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the household
• Cooking the family’s evening meal on a daily basis
• Occasional child and pet care
• Grocery shopping and taking stock of all household items
• Ensuring all bedrooms are always clean
• Managing external contractors
• Deal quickly and responsibly with any issues that arise
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Previous experience supporting a UHNW family within a private household
• Very high attention to detail
• A positive, can-do attitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• Trustworthy and handles confidential information appropriately
• Longevity as demonstrated by previous employment
• Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
• Right to work within the UK
• Excellent checkable references
