A lovely family of five are looking to find a highly experienced Live-in Couple to support them in their newly refurbished 6-bedroom home in Somerset. The family are based in London but split their time between their two properties and are looking for a flexible Housekeeper/Cook and Handyman team who loves the countryside as much as they do, to join their fully staffed home.

The main focus of the Housekeeper/Cook when the family is in residence would be to cook delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners- the family love classic British recipes but often enjoys having international dishes as well. You should feel comfortable cooking for larger groups on special occasions and will also need to set and decorate the table. You must have confidence in serving food and beverages and any wine cellar management experience will be highly sought after.

Other responsibilities would be housekeeping to an extremely high standard including the care of antiques, silver, brass and china ornaments and delicate fine art. You will also be responsible for the laundry and wardrobe management, including delicates care and dropping off dry cleaning. The family are looking for a tech-savvy candidate who would be able to manage the entertainment systems, you should be familiar with how the Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime apps work.

The Handyman’s main focus would be the management of the family’s luxury cars which would involve the cleaning, servicing and general maintenance of these vehicles. You must be a confident driver as you will be required to pick up the family and other guests from the train station/airport when needed. Other duties would be grounds work, walking the dogs when they are in residence, servicing and maintaining all household appliances, ensuring fireplace log baskets are always full as well as cleaning and maintaining the fireplaces and any other DIY/minor repairs. You should be a flexible and hardworking candidate, as there may be times when you will need to assist the Housekeeper when needed, this could be in terms of general housekeeping or when the family entertains.

Both the Housekeeper and the Handyman should have excellent front-of-house skills, be proactive and highly organised. You must have prior experience working in a private household in similar positions. Discretion and an eye for detail are crucial in this role and the family are looking for someone who is both child and pet friendly.

Typical working hours would be 09:00 – 18:00 Monday - Friday when the family are not in residence. When the family are in residence working hours will change to accommodate the 3 daily meals, so flexibility is a must. You may need to work over the weekend, but you will get your days off in lieu. Accommodation will be a modern 1 bedroom cottage on the property, no pets or children can be accommodated.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
• Management of all household laundry, including clothing, fine fabrics, linens etc.
• Ironing, pressing, folding and appropriately hanging/storing all items
• Daily cleaning of the property including antiques and delicate artwork
• Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the household
• Cooking for the family daily
• Grocery shopping and taking stock of all household items
• Ensuring all bedrooms are always clean
• Table service
• Valeting and fueling of cars
• DIY and minor repairs
• Gardening/grounds management
• Managing external contractors
• Deal quickly and responsibly with any issues that arise
