We are working with a UHNW client to find an experienced and talented private Chef to work in their Los Angeles home. The family follow special diets, so candidates must have experience cooking keto, vegetarian and gluten-free meals.

This is an exciting opportunity as there is a small amount of travel involved to the family’s residences in Europe and the UK. We are hoping to find candidates who can not only live and work in the USA but also in the EU and UK however, this is not a deal breaker. Candidates should already be living a commutable distance from the property in LA as this is a live-out role.

The ideal candidate should enjoy creating interesting and creative weekly menus that cater to each family member’s preferences at least one week in advance. The family requires lunch and dinner daily and breakfast on occasion. You should be able to consistently prepare high-end, restaurant-quality meals by using organic, high-quality, or previously approved ingredients. The family like to eat seasonal recipes based on ingredients that are available at the time. A big part of this role would revolve around shopping for the freshest organic ingredients and taking recommendations from the local butcher or fishmonger.

A key part of this role is to notate different family members’ preferences, favourite recipes and ingredients. This is for your own reference, but also so someone can fill in on your days off to provide a seamless transition. Great communication with the family for their meal selections is extremely important to allow sufficient time to prepare family meals and obtain ingredients that are not already in stock. Other responsibilities would include taking a daily inventory of all pantry and perishable items, disposing of expired items, and keeping the kitchen, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, pantries and food storage areas in a highly organized and extremely clean state.

This is a fully staffed household, so working as a team is crucial. As the Chef, you will be working in close coordination with the butler to ensure a smooth meal service. You should also be willing and ready to serve meals yourself in case a butler or suitable staff member is not available.

Highly discreet, grounded and passionate candidates will be highly sought after. Having a natural talent for cooking delicious, unusual dishes while adhering to dietary restrictions and a passion for food, are qualities we are looking for.

You will work throughout the week with flexible days off based on the family’s schedule. Other benefits include two weeks of paid vacation per year and $475/month toward a choice of various Blue Shield HMO/PPO plans and 6 paid sick days per year.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
• Menu planning in line with dietary requirements and the principals’ preferences
• Preparing beautifully presented and delicious meals to the family's tastes
• Sourcing high quality, and where possible locally sourced, ingredients
• Maintaining hygiene standards to the highest level
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy at all times
• Occasional food service when needed
• Food quality control
• Liaising with the principals on event details when required

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a Chef in a private household
• Ability to prepare delicious meals whilst adhering to dietary requirements
• Experience in cooking keto, gluten-free and vegetarian meals
• Can-do attitude and a hands-on approach
• Strict hygiene procedures
• Highly organised, motivated, and proactive
• Trustworthy, reliable, and discreet
• Excellent checkable references
• Eligibility to work in the USA
• Eligibility to work in the UK and the EU (preferred not essential)
