LIVE-IN HOUSE MANAGER/COOK – UHNW SURREY ESTATE

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced live-in House Manager/Cook to support an ultra-high net worth family of three in their large home in Surrey. The family are looking to appoint a talented and organised House Manager/Cook to ensure the smooth running of their household and prefer candidates with experience onboard super yachts.

You will be hands-on across the management of the whole household, including managing household staff and ensuring high standards are maintained at all times, overseeing contractors and their work, liaising with the principals directly as well as being responsible for budget management and expenditure projections and reports. In addition, you will have excellent service skills and wine knowledge. You will also be required to prepare and cook delicious, simple, and healthy meals for the family daily, so it’s essential that you have prior cooking experience and enjoy this aspect of the role.

The family are looking for a hard working and meticulous House Manager/Cook with an exceptional eye for detail. You will be professional, loyal, self-motivated and be an excellent team player who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. Working collaboratively alongside and managing the Housekeeper, you will lead from the front and set the standards for the house, provide support and training where necessary and deal with any issues in a prompt and efficient manner.

Working 5 days per week, usual working hours will be 8-9 hours per day, including weekends, with two days off during the week. The family often spend weeks or months at a time away from home, so they are looking for a candidate who can offer some flexibility in terms of working hours when they are in residence. Private accommodation is provided on-site and some facilities, such as the staff kitchen, will be shared with other staff members.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Administrative tasks such as household budget and cash flow management; household bill payment management; contractor and suppliers’ database management
• Oversight of household purchases procedure
• Weekly and monthly reports to keep the principals updated
• Managing stocks and maintaining up-to-date inventories of wine, spare equipment, household items, etc.
• Management of household staff to ensure a smooth-running operation
• HR duties for household staff – planning working rota; timesheets; holiday planning; staff conflict resolution etc.
• Oversight of the property’s security and maintenance, including staff accommodation and liaising with external contractors/tradesmen
• Carrying out specific tasks and/or projects requested by the family (e.g., assisting the family and guests with specific requests (restaurant reservations, special events organisation, etc.)
• Implementing systems and procedures in the house to ensure the highest standards are maintained, providing staff training where necessary
• Table settings, serving food and drinks
• Covering for the Housekeeper on her days off (turn-ups and turndowns)
• Errand-running
• Plan menus according to the family’s preferences and schedule
• Shop for and order food and kitchen supplies, stock and organise the kitchen
• Maintain kitchen (including all equipment, appliances, supplies) to a superior level of cleanliness and hygiene
• Maintaining daily communication with the principals regarding requests for meals and any requirements for the kitchen and/or food preparation
• Dealing with grocery shopping and maintaining accounts and budgets, building relationships with local suppliers
• Maintaining stock control
• Ensuring refrigerator is clean and out-of-date items discarded
• Waste management

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior management experience onboard superyachts or supporting an ultra-high net worth individual or family
• Excellent cooking and presentation skills
• Exceptionally organised with a good eye for detail
• Professional, approachable, and discreet
• Able to offer flexibility
• Excellent manager with strong people skills
• Proactive self-starter who can work autonomously
• Strong budgeting and accounts management skills
• Fluency in English
• Valid driving license and confident driver
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK
• Excellent checkable references
