UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR FLEXIBLE LONDON HOUSEKEEPER
We have a brilliant opportunity available for an experienced and hardworking Housekeeper with a proactive nature to support a lovely HNWI in their London residence. Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the home, managing the laundry, ironing and care of fine fabrics, it is essential that the Housekeeper has excellent knowledge and experience of how to care for luxury furnishings and the use of appropriate cleaning products.
This 5-bedroom property is finished to a very high specification and also includes a gym and swimming pool, but the majority of the time it is just one or two bedrooms that will be in use. The principal travels extensively and is frequently away for weeks at a time, but then also has periods in London when it can be quite busy with visiting guests and dinner parties, so the ability to offer flexibility with regards to working hours is of essence for this role.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised and have great attention to detail, pre-empting the principals’ needs and ensure that their home runs smoothly. Duties will include household and grocery shopping, assistance with laying tables for dinner parties, packing and unpacking, wardrobe management and general errand running. Ideally, the Housekeeper will also be a pet lover who would be happy to walk the two friendly dogs, and to care for them overnight on the occasion when the principals are travelling and don’t take the dogs with them. A driving license is not required, but is highly desired for this role.
Usually working around 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday and a couple of hours on a Saturday and Sunday when they’re in London, hours are very flexible when they are travelling, as long as the house is maintained, deliveries received, and the dogs cared for. The principals are lovely to work for and treat their staff with respect and kindness, so this is a unique opportunity for a Housekeeper who is able to offer great flexibility and top-notch service to a relaxed, down-to-earth family in return for plenty of down-time during the course of the year.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
• Management of all household laundry and ironing, including clothing, linens etc.
• Cleaning of the property including making beds, hoovering, dusting, mopping, cleaning bathrooms etc.
• Packing and unpacking luggage; wardrobe management
• Taking stock of all household items ensuring everything is well-stocked, including groceries
• Shopping and errand running e.g. dry cleaners, post office etc.
• Assisting with laying tables and setting up for dinner parties
• Dealing with contractors and vendors as and when required, receiving deliveries
• Dealing quickly and responsibly with any issues that arise
• Dog walking and caring for the dogs overnight when required
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Previous experience in private households or onboard superyachts
• High attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude
• Proactive nature with the ability to pre-empt needs
• Willingness to be flexible with working hours & days
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• Trustworthy and ability to handle confidential information appropriately
• Discreet, polite, and well-presented
• Pet friendly
• Able to prioritise and multitask effectively
• Full, clean UK driving license (ideally)
• Right to work within the UK & based in London or surrounding areas
• Excellent checkable references
