MANDARIN-SPEAKING GOVERNESS FOR FAMILY IN LONDON
A terrific opportunity has become available for a professional, caring and experienced Mandarin-speaking Governess to support a HNW family with the care of their two children, aged 10 and 13. Still new to London, the family are looking to employ a Governess with an adaptable and flexible nature, as well as excellent communication skills to support them whilst they are settling into their new routine. Ideally, the Governess should be able to start by the 1st of September.
The Governess would be expected to have a good understanding and experience of working with children of a similar age, and will be responsible for school runs, managing the children’s schedules, assisting with their homework and organising after-school activities for them. The ideal candidate will be confident, able to work on their own initiative, highly organised as well as being knowledgeable with regards to child development and behaviour.
Also responsible for liaising with the children’s schools, you will ensure that you’re familiar with their respective curriculums and provide regular updates to the parents with regards to the children’s educational progress. Kind and empathetic, you will have a naturally nurturing personality and ensure that the children are also supported emotionally, helping them to adapt to their new environment.
Usual working hours would be from Monday to Friday from 1pm-7pm, but flexibility will be required as some of the family’s exact schedules aren’t in place yet. A driver is essential for this role, and a car will be made available for the Governess to use for work purposes. There are no pets at the home.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Children’s diary (appointments, play dates etc.)
• Monitoring child development milestones
• Facilitating age-appropriate learning and educational activities
• Offering children consistency and security
• Assisting with homework
• School runs and driving children to school and extracurricular activities; refuelling the car
• Liaising with the schools and parents to get and provide regular updates on the children’s progress
• Ad-hoc errand running
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
• Prior experience with children of a similar age
• Relevant childcare qualifications
• Fluency in English and Mandarin
• Good knowledge of child development and milestones
• Kind, caring and attentive
• Flexible and adaptable in nature with a can-do attitude
• Well-mannered, well-presented and a pleasure to have around
• A valid UK driving licence & right to live and work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS check
• Excellent checkable references
