TEMP CHEF/COOK REQUIRED IN HENLEY-ON-THAMES

We are assisting a lovely client with the recruitment of a temporary Cook/Chef to prepare nutritious and wholesome meals for a school rowing team qualifying for the Henley Regatta 2024. The candidate will be required every day from 23rd June to 8th July and will primarily be focused on preparing breakfasts and dinners each day for 13 people, and lunch for about half the team.

All meals are to be extremely generous portions of nutritiously based proteins/carbohydrates suitable for very high performing athletes, so it is imperative that the Cook/Chef has an understanding of nutrition, and that they are highly hygienic, organised and efficient in their ways of working. The meal requirements are fairly basic and include dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognaise, crumbed organic chicken and steamed vegetables, homemade burgers and salads, as well as lots of fresh fruits and ideally some homemade cakes and/or biscuits for tea.

The clients are looking to ideally appoint a personable and down to earth Cook/Chef who would also be able to perform some light housekeeping tasks such as washing and drying the team’s exercise gear and towels, and doing a light dust and vacuum to ensure the property is kept in a tidy condition – no deep cleaning, ironing or bed making will be required, and the housekeeping aspect of the role will most likely take no longer than 1-2 hours per day.

Working hours might vary depending on the team’s training schedule but will generally be from around 7am-7pm (with breaks during the day) so some flexibility will be required. A live-out position, the preference would be that the candidate lives locally and that they are a driver with their own car, as breakfast preparation will take place off-site at the rowing club in Maidenhead for the first week (a fuel allowance will be provided).

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Menu planning in line with the clients’ preferences and dietary requirements
• Daily preparation of breakfast and dinner for the team, and daily lunch preparation for half the team
• Maintaining hygiene standards to the highest level; cleaning the kitchen
• Food quality control
• Grocery shopping and errand running
• Light cleaning/housekeeping to include dusting and vacuuming, and washing, drying and folding towels and training gear
• Rubbish and recycling management

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Confident Cook/Chef with high hygiene standards and an understanding of nutrition
• Fluency in English and eligibility to work in the UK
• Hardworking and dedicated
• Energetic and positive
• Proactive and organised
• Trustworthy and reliable
• Based locally in the Henley-on-Thames area and a driver with their own car
• Excellent checkable references
