HOUSEKEEPER/HOUSE MANAGER – HNW HOME IN CALIFORNIA

We are currently recruiting for a superstar Housekeeper/House Manager with an exceptional eye for detail, strong work ethic and flexible, can-do attitude to manage a beautiful house for an UHNWI in Atherton, California. The ideal candidate will be incredibly organised and able to work autonomously, taking responsibility for the upkeep of a luxury property in the client’s absence, as well as providing seamless service to the principal when they are in residence.

It is essential that you must have excellent knowledge of how to care for luxury furnishings and surfaces and have a good understanding of the use of appropriate cleaning products. Duties will include laundry and ironing, making beds, cleaning, and organisation of all areas in the house, as well as the care of artwork and other valuables. Other duties will include liaising with tradesmen, vendors and suppliers, personal shopping and errand running, keeping track of household expenses and liaising with the principal’s EA, as well as some concierge duties such as making restaurant reservations etc.

The principal is not in residence full-time, so much of the role will be focused on the upkeep, cleanliness and organisation of the home in their absence, where a full-time caretaker is also employed to deal with any major maintenance tasks. When in residence, the Housekeeper/House Manager will be required to prepare healthy, simple meals for the principal, following recipes and adhering to a strict list of dietary requirements. Having brilliant interpersonal and communication skills, as well as being a driver with a full, clean US driving license and living within a commutable distance from the house are essential requirements for this role.

Usual working hours will be Monday to Friday from 8am-4pm, but when the principal is not in residence, the working days can be shorter, providing that all tasks are accomplished. When in residence, great flexibility will be required to accommodate overtime hours, availability to work on a Saturday and to be available at short notice. The principal is looking to appoint a switched on, well presented and professional candidate to remain with them long-term.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing beds, cleaning bathrooms and entertainment areas
• Laundry and ironing, including caring for fine fabrics
• Managing stocks of cleaning products and groceries
• Maintaining inventories and managing the household budget
• Computer literate to do purchases online, respond to emails etc.
• Meeting and greeting any visitors and guests
• Liaising with suppliers, vendors, and tradesmen to oversee any maintenance works, installations etc.
• Liaising with the principal’s EA on any administration duties
• Making restaurant reservations, booking theatre tickets etc.
• Preparing meals for the principal (follow strict list of dietary restrictions)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior housekeeping experience in a high-end household
• Good level of spoken English and eligibility to live in the USA
• Living locally and having your own private accommodation and reliable transport
• Full, clean US driving license
• Hardworking, dedicated, trustworthy and reliable
• High attention to detail and very organised
• Flexibility with hours and duties
• Ability and willingness to cook for the principal
• Able to work independently with little supervision
• Fully vaccinated candidates are preferred
• Brilliant checkable references
