EXPERIENCED ALL-ROUNDER COUPLE FOR LONDON HOME
We have a wonderful opportunity for a hardworking and dedicated Chef/Handyman & Housekeeper Couple to manage a busy HNW family home in Central London. This 6-bedroom residence is occupied by a family of 5 (3 teenagers), and also has an indoor pool and a small garden, so the family are looking to appoint a versatile and flexible Couple to assist them in the smooth running of their home.
The Couple will work together to ensure that the interior and the exterior of the property are maintained to the highest standard and will have excellent organisational and communication skills to prioritise responsibilities efficiently. Duties will include laundry, ironing, cleaning, tidying, and wardrobe management, as well as pool cleaning, light gardening and coordinating landscaping, and general DIY tasks in and around the house. Other duties will include ad-hoc errand running and school pick-ups/drop-offs, and ensuring that the car is fueled and clean, so at least one of the Couple should be a driver.
In terms of cooking, the family usually only require dinner and enjoy eating healthy, creative, and varied cuisines presented to a high standard. The Chef will be required to plan menus to present to the family (usually once a week), manage grocery shopping and place online orders, and will be responsible for stock control and cleanliness of the kitchen. Occasionally, the family might host dinner parties and family gatherings, so the Chef should ideally be able to cater for larger groups too.
The usual working week will be 45 hours across 5 days per week, but can vary depending on the family’s schedule, so flexibility will be required. The Couple will have two days off per week (one day off guaranteed to be together) and will be provided with private 1-bedroom/1-bath accommodation. There is also a kitchen with a separate entrance for the Couple’s use (to be shared with other staff members during the day). A car is provided for the Couple but unfortunately no pets will be allowed. Occasional international travel with the family might be required, but this will only be for a few weeks of the year.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
• Managing laundry, ironing, changing bed lines, cleaning bathrooms and all general cleaning in the house
• Implementing systems and inventory management; keeping on top of maintenance schedules and coordinating with service providers
• Preparing weekly menus for the family’s approval and preparing and serving meals and snacks as requested
• Laying and clearing the table
• Grocery shopping, sourcing fresh seasonal ingredients and placing/receiving online orders
• Cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen
• Coordinate landscaping, light gardening and keeping the entrance and outdoor areas swept
• Window cleaning
• Manage indoor pool cleaning using testing tools to determine safety, add pool chemicals as a part of ongoing maintenance and keep water free from debris
• Change light bulbs and fire alarm batteries (on a schedule)
• Help out with driving as needed, mostly for kids’ activities after school
• Keep the car well maintained and full of diesel
• Travel with the family during school breaks as needed
• Responsible for home security when family are away; occasional proxy-parenting
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Very high attention to detail
• Ability to self-manage and be proactive
• Excellent communication skills & team players
• Confident cooking skills and high hygiene standards
• Good eye for detail; knowledge and experience of caring for high-end furniture and fabrics
• Ability to prioritise and multitask effectively
• Responsible, reliable and discreet
• Right to work within the UK
• Full clean UK driving licenses (two preferred but only one essential)
• Excellent checkable references
