PROFESSIONAL BUTLER/LADY’S MAID FOR UHNWF – LONDON
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Butler/Lady’s Maid to join a fully staffed household located in South Kensington, London. This formal home is occupied by a lovely family of four and they are looking to appoint a consummate professional who is polite and friendly, yet boundaried, and discreet. The ideal candidate will be an all-rounder with outstanding service and front-of-house skills, as well as excellent wardrobe management skills.
Working alongside other household staff to provide a very high level of food and beverage service on a daily basis, you will work closely with the female principal and take responsibility for managing her wardrobe, caring for her garments, and packing and unpacking for trips. Having in-depth knowledge of laundry procedures and the care of fine and delicate garments is essential for this role.
You will be hands-on, hard-working and have a ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as a brilliant organisational skills and an eye for detail. As part of the role, you will also be required to travel internationally with the family for up to 60 days of the year, so you must be flexible and adaptable. Though you will be reporting to the principal directly, you must be a team player with exceptional communication skills and a willingness to assist wherever required to ensure the smooth running of the household.
Working 5 days per week on a rota system, you will either cover the early shift or the late shift and will generally have weekends off. You will be required to work at least one weekend per month and days will then be given off in lieu during the week. A background in the yachting industry is highly desired, but not essential.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Daily food & beverage service to a 5-star standard, including formal table service
• Welcoming and receiving guests and visitors
• Inventory management and liaising with suppliers and vendors
• Flower arrangement
• Wardrobe management and care of fine and delicate garments
• Packing and unpacking for trips; travelling with the family when required
• Working closely with the principal to ensure that all her needs are met
• Liaising with the wider team to ensure the household runs smoothly
• Assisting the wider housekeeping team as and when required
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior transferable experience in a private household or yacht stewardess experience
• Hardworking with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
• A strong multi-tasker, organised and meticulous
• Professional, polite, and highly discreet
• Knowledgeable about the care of high-end couture garments
• Experienced in packing and unpacking of suitcases
• London-based and within a reasonable commutable distance from the property
• Fluent spoken English and the right to live and work in the UK
• Great teamwork skills as well as the ability to work autonomously
• Willingness and the ability to travel internationally
• Excellent checkable references
