LIVE-IN HOUSE MANAGER FOR COUNTRY ESTATE

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly experienced, hardworking, and talented House Manager to support an UHNW family in their large country estate in Suffolk. You will be a highly professional individual with a proven track record, who can demonstrate a passion for training and developing teams to deliver outstanding guest and client service, quality, and financial results. Your overall function will be to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day household operations in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for managing and implementing the daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for all staff, as well as recruitment of household staff with input from the Estate Manager and family. Additional responsibilities include, staff training and development, purchasing goods for the household and ensuring any maintenance issues are brought to the Estate Manager’s attention, you will be expected to lead the team of staff by example. The ideal candidate should have well-rounded management experience in all aspects of household operations, and a sound understanding of policies and procedures, in order to manage the household.

This is a live-in position, with accommodation provided in a separate two-bedroom cottage. Working around 8 hours per day (9am-6pm), 5 days a week, with some weekends included. Flexibility around working times will be required when the family is home.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
• Overseeing the household domestic team grounds keeping staff, and offering hands on assistance where necessary
• Implementing a daily and weekly rota to ensure all domestic duties are achieved (laundry, cleaning of rooms to suit the schedule of the principals, preparation for guests)
• Management of holiday Rota, performance reviews, monitoring of casual staff hours and pay, record keeping of hours, holiday, and lieu days
• Liaising with the Chef re meals and future events (communicating times/dates/ to help with forward planning)
• Managing the domestic household budget
• Purchasing goods for the household and keeping receipts to submit monthly domestic expenses
• Engaging and overseeing all internal contractors/suppliers
• Reporting any facility/handyman jobs to the Estate/Facilities Manager in a timely manner
• Acting as first point of contact for all guests arriving at the house, answering the house phone and serving refreshments and meals.
• Overseeing the care of the china, antiques and other specialist items
• Managing the wine cellar and bar
• Writing and updating household manuals - e.g., room by room instructions re cleaning/layout/provisions
• Responsible for the security of the property
• Ordering dog/internal pet food, looking after pets welfare, arranging vet appointments
• Working with PA team to trouble shoot IT issues
• Organising the Drivers in conjunction with the Estate/Facilities Manager when errands are needed to be run
• Ensuring all business areas comply with current health and safety
• Ad-hoc errands and additional responsibilities as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Prior experience in managerial role within a private household or onboard a superyacht
• Flexible approach and ‘can-do’ attitude
• Professional and boundaried
• Discreet and loyal
• Demonstrate a high level of IT literacy
• Well presented with an outgoing personality
• Excellent English and communication skills
• Ability to motivate and train staff members
• Valid UK driving license
• DBS or willingness to obtain a DBS check
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Brilliant checkable references
